Artemia cysts from the Great Salt Lake

Ocean Nutrition GSL Artemia cysts are harvested from the surface of the Great Salt Lake, Utah (US). After processing, a quality assessment is performed: each harvest is subjected to extensive fingerprinting to categorize all important characteristics and parameters such as hatching/enrichment kinetics, decapsulation, separation, contamination, fatty acid profile, biometrics.

Based on the result of this fingerprinting, Ocean Nutrition grades and selects the cysts that are best suited for fish and shrimp hatcheries.

GSL Artemia cysts are small, fast hatching cystst available in different grades.

The size of Instar I nauplii after about 19 hours is 500 micron, and Instar II nauplii after about 24 hours is 660 micron.

Tank preparation: Use a clean tank with a conical shaped bottom. Install an open airtube near the bottom of the tank. Install a light source on top of the tank. Fill with clean seawater of salinity 25 - 35 gram / liter. Hatching and harvest: Under optimal conditions, the hatching will be completed within 24 hours. Stop aeration and remove light source. After 10 minutes, drain or siphon the nauplii from the bottom. Wait 15 minutes more and harvest the remaining nauplii.
